Carving Pumpkins

You know it's Halloween when pumpkin guts start flyin' around the kitchen. Whoever came up with the idea of carving pumpkins was NOT a mother!

We like to bake the pumpkin seeds and then eat them. YUM!

The finished products. McKenna's is Frankenstein and
Aleah's is a girl that she designed. Good job girls!
Now go clean up the kitchen!

More Fall Sports

Aleah finished up softball last week. Mountain View tied for second place in the league, so not a bad season. Way to go Lancers!

"I'm going to kill it!"

"Ouch, that hurt!"

McKenna has her last soccer game this Saturday. She's sad but mom's kind of glad because it's really starting to get cold! And I don't understand how they can practice soccer in the dark?!

"This girl didn't like getting beat!"

Pumpkin Patch

We are so lucky to have a great pumpkin patch just down the road from us! Every year the girls can't wait to go pick out their pumpkins.

Cooper's Mama

Cooper's breeder sent us this picture of Elsa, Cooper's mama. She is now 3 years old and weighs in at a hefty 210 lbs! That is a BIG female! Isn't she a pretty girl though? We're trying to get a picture of Dude, his dad. It looks like he's the one laying on the floor but it's hard to tell how big he is. He's only 2 yrs. old so he's not done growing yet but we're guessing he's probably 190 lbs. or so.

Cooper is now 13 months old and weighs about 150 lbs. Other than still being a really big scaredy-cat and shedding somewhat, he is a good dog. After we've been gone for a while, we get home and let him out of his kennel and he sticks to us like glue because he missed us so much. And he'll come and sit on the couch with us! He really is a big goof ball and is always making us laugh. We love you Cooper!

Fall Soccer

We're off and running with fall soccer and although we only have one playing this fall instead of three, we're still enjoying every minute of it. We sure miss watching Kaylyn and Lexi play (Lexi is playing intramural soccer at BYU but that's a little far to go for a game :( ) but it's exciting to see McKenna following in their footsteps with Club ball. She tried out for the Elite Soccer Club last spring and was able to move up to this competitive level with the majority of her team and coach. They have done extremely well, considering many times they are playing older teams. Yesterday they were dealt their first loss and it was to the number one team but they led for most of the game and ended up losing by one on a penalty kick. So close!

McKenna always figured she would be just like her older sisters and play defense but has enjoyed moving up to midfield and striker this year. Every once in a while though, her coach has to remind her where she's supposed to be playing because she'll tend to drift back to that defensive mode! I think it's just been ingrained in her brain after watching her sisters for so many years. She definitely knows the game of soccer really well!

"Put Me in Coach, I'm Ready to Play!"

After taking a year off, Aleah is back on the softball field. But wow, 8th grade softball is different from 6th grade softball! It's fast-pitch and that ball is coming pretty darn fast but she's managed to connect with the ball a few times. Unfortunately, the ball has also managed to connect with her a few times too. In tonight's game, after being beaned in the shoulder by a pitch, she had an RBI and scored a run herself. She enjoys playing the outfield and stealing bases but does NOT enjoy being hit by pitches!

"Ouch!"

As for the rest of us, we're enjoying watching a sport other than soccer. It's a nice change, however I wish the weather would cooperate. Last week, the first week of softball, was absolutely gorgeous... high 80's and sunny. This week though we've been freezin' our behinds off... all of 55 degrees today. I literally broke out my down coat and managed to keep somewhat warm. And it's only October 1st! Oh boy, it's going to be a LOOOOOOONG winter.
