Spring Break 2009

For Spring Break this year, we headed to Utah in search of warmer weather. We tried Provo and a few days with Rob's sister, Mary, but after it snowed 5" we decided we were out of there. We kept heading south to St. George - beautiful Red Rock Country. Here it was 70 degrees and we were able to become reaquainted with the sun.

We had a great time playing in the pool, jogging around Temple Square and getting ice cream at Baskin-Robbins. (We figured if we jogged the 1.5 miles to BR from our hotel we could justify getting ice cream - but then who needs justification?!). Tony, our nephew who's going to school in Cedar City, met us in St. George and enjoyed dinner and swimming with us. It was fun to see Tony again.

Call me crazy or even out of my mind, but I wanted to get a family picture while we were in St. George. Not the best thing to do to promote family camraderie on vacation but what the heck. We all survived and, dare I say, actually had fun. But then it was 70 degrees and we were walking through green grass in our bare feet! Need I say more?

After a couple of days, we headed back up to Provo so Kaylyn and Lexi could see some friends at BYU and check out housing and jobs for next fall. The rest of us took in some bowling at the Wilkinson Center, pizza at the Pizza Factory with Lincoln and his family and even met up with Kirby Heybourne (an LDS actor and singer). We wanted to hike up to the "Y" but we wouldn't have been able to find it under all the snow.

It was great to see so much of the family again: Steph, Clay and Heather, Lincoln and Dorothee and the boys (Alex is the newest Zag fan - we got him a Gonzaga hat for his birthday), Joey, Tony, Mary, Molly, Nate, Cannon and their newest little guy, Noah. We were even able to look up and old friend, Joe Adamson, and visit with him and his family too. They also have a brand new little boy.

We appreciate Grandma "dog-sitting" for us so we could get away for awhile. It appears that her and Cooper bonded just fine and survived each other for the week. He sure was excited to see us when we got home - he about mauled us to death!
